Fishing Report - Early Spring Trout & Steelhead in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

March 20, 2020

· Fishing Reports

Believe it or not it's starting to look a lot like spring! I know at this moment it may not but believe me when I say ice flows mean things are melting! The upcoming weather is calling for highs in the 50s and sunshine with some much needed rain with the light snow fall amounts we have had this winter. With the coming rain we will get the rising water temperatures, murky water and higher water levels.

This past week we hit two rivers in two days providing some good early season trouting and a few steelhead. The browns were receptive to both a swung fly and some high stick nymphing while beads were the hot ticket for the steel!

In my opinion the weather coming at us over the course of the next week will be the reset button firing the spring fishing action to increase greatly.

A reminder if your looking to book a trip now is the time as our dates are booking quickly for the prime dates! Steelhead and smallmouth middle of April through May. Early trout May-June.
