Fishing Report - Spring Fly Fishing in the Upper Peninsula

Spring is around the corner, time to start planning for steelhead and smallmouth fly fishing.

· Fishing Reports

The spring thaw (which is just around the corner) is a welcomed time of year for us who live in Michigans Upper Peninsula. The melting of the snow, the longer days and bright sun are a very welcomed seen and with this also comes steelhead and right behind them are the smallmouth.

This is a very special time of the year for us as the steelhead will be starting their spring up stream migration and then when the water hits around 48-50 degrees the smallmouth will start to enter the rivers.

Its such a great experiance when you can roll down the river and see these two fresh water alphas side by side.

Depending on how the snowpack from winter past is along with spring rains we very well could have steelhead into late may which means great smallmouth and steelhead fishing overlapping which will provide for a great floats and hot fish!
