Christopher with the Caddis Shack guide service here! Myself along with Jim Rivard and the Escanaba River Association are hosting the first ever Trout Spey Clave! The date is July 31st from 10am to 6pm Est. Location will be the Escanaba River association lodge located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
This will be a very, very good event regardless of whether you’re an expert in intermediate or beginner -- it will be something you will want to attend. Topics will rang from skagit, skandi, micro skagit, two handers and singles and beyond.
There will be some absolutely fantastic speakers,pros and manufacturers of the finest caliber all coming together to discuss and teach all things related to the two handers. This will be a trout spey clave but feel absolutely free to discuss steelhead and smallmouth as I’m quite sure that they will come up!
Featured guests are as follows:
Ed Ward - Line designer for OPST lines. Ed is a longtime guide spending time in Alaska and Russia and beyond. Ed has been featured all over the world, is a line designer and a teacher!
Dave Pinczkowski - Another top notch human who has been has been featured in many publications for his skill set and his fly tying designs. Dave is also a teacher of the art of the two handers and a guide.
Andrew Bennett Hunting (possible) - I have known Ben for many years as he is my Far Banks rep(Sage, Rio and Redington) Ben has spent a lifetime involved in the fly fishing industry from tying to guiding to representing some of the best products available. I communicate with him often to discuss products and at times I believe he knows my style better than I know myself.
Alexander Nyetgoodenov - Alex is a master fly tyer who owns the company Straights on the Fly. He is an exceptional fly tyer shipping his flies all over the world.
Ethan Winchester - Ethan is a Sage pro elite also carrying his captains license. Ethan is the general manager and guide at Boyne outfitters in the lower peninsula. He has dedicated a large part of his life to the rivers, streams and the Great Lakes.
Tim Pantzlaff is the owner of the company Speyco, some of the finest hand crafted reels made. I have known Tim for many, many years and I never thought when he mentioned that he was going to make reels that he would produce a product that would be sold worldwide.
Superior Outfitters/Nick Simon - Nick is one of the local fly shop owners out of the city of Marquette. He has been fishing and guiding since he was a wee little boy and his brought his skill set to his shop in the city of Marquette!
