This springtime has brought us a whirlwind of different weather. They always say in the U.P. if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes.
We started with almost zero snow on the books, and I might say I was concerned. When I was about to start making phone calls to start rescheduling things we got a small snowstorm and some rain giving the river systems some water and restoring a bit of hope. Then came the rising temps and then the crash as the bottom fell out of the water temperatures.
Well, things have started to stabilize and the steelhead fishing is fair and the smallmouth have just begun their migration into the river system. The early season trout fishing as the trout have the feed bag on and are crushing streamers right now.
The smallmouth season has just started to pick up momentum and the BIG lake runs are on their way into the system weather for the next 48 hours is going to bring us about an inch and a half of rain which will do us well.
We are about at peak for steelhead so we should have several more decent weeks to chase steel, the smallmouth are just starting, and well the trout opener just happened so there is a solid 5 months of that to go.
