Fishing Report – Tuesday, June 3, 2025
We finally got a much-needed shot of rain overnight—just north of an inch, which is a welcome relief for our trout streams. This fresh water will do wonders for stream levels and temperatures, which have been dropping fast as things get dry across the region.
For all you dry fly enthusiasts, it’s shaping up to be a smorgasbord out there. Keep your eyes on the water—Hendricksons, Caddis, Sulphurs, Mahogany Duns, and Stoneflies are either already making their appearance or will be hatching in full force within the next week. It’s time to break out the 4-weights and start looking up!
Not into the dry fly game? No worries—the streamer bite has been solid and should only improve with the bump in flow. Wet flies on the swing are also producing well and will continue to do so with the added current.
On the warmwater front, this rain may also help us get back into some river smallmouth action. We’re right in the middle of prime topwater season—perfect timing for poppers and bugs. If the water levels don’t quite hit topwater conditions, don’t count yourself out—sinking lines and big streamers are always a solid bet for these original river gangsters.
That’s the update for now—tight lines, be safe out there, and as always…
Stay fishy. 🎣
