Fishing Report - Colorful Leaves and Big Trout

Fly fishing on the Escanaba River isn't over - not by a long shot. Our trout season in this special water is open all year. Oct and Nov are amazing times to chase big hungry browns.

As the sun is setting on yet another great trout season I want to remind you that its not over for us on the Escanaba River! This past week has been loaded with blanket caddis hatches along with a few bwos and isos for you dry fly enthusiasts. The streamer bite has provided some fish as well and lets not forget about some trout spey!

The evenings are getting shorter but you will continue to have last light at around 8:30 pm. The BIG caddis hatches have been coming around the last hour of light with intermitent hatches happening through out the day. We'll see more bwos as we draw into october.

Swinging and stripping small baitfish patterns has provided us with some decent action along with throwing some large streamers such as D&Ds and large Zoo cougars. productive streamer colors are browns and yellows, olives and just plain yellow.

If there is a downside to this fall its the fact that we are battleing low water conditions which has slowed the roll for our fall lake run fish.
